Principal's Message

Greetings Hoover Hawk Families,

It is with great excitement that I welcome both new and returning families back to the 2019-20 school year! I hope that you all are having a wonderful, restful summer and that you and your child(ren) are looking forward to the upcoming academic year. Our first day of school will be August 14, 2019! I would like to invite you to join me that day in the MPR at 8:40 for “Coffee With The Principal.”

As many of you know, Hoover School strives to provide a private school experience in a public setting. As we embark upon a new school year, I joyfully anticipate continuing our partnership with families, students and staff to further develop Hoover’s commitment to the Arts, instructional excellence in Balanced Literacy and Mathematics, and meeting the needs of every student.  There are a multitude of opportunities for you to participate in your child’s educational experience throughout the school year. We will have Family Nights, Performing Arts events, PFO events, Dads Club, ELAC, GATE, Open House, and the list goes on.

All Hoover students wear a school uniform . The uniform consists of:

  •        navy blue or khaki cotton pants, shorts, skirts or jumpers
  •        a polo shirt (collared) in either red, white, or navy blue

Please read the uniform letter for more information.

As we all know communication is very important in order for you to know what is happening at your child’s school. This year our district and school will continue to use SANGHA as our main system of communication and I will send out a message every week to share information with our families. If you haven’t already, please download the Sangha Parent Communication App to your mobile phone and log in using the e-mail/phone number, on record for you in WCSD’s records.

Another easy way to stay current, is by visiting our Hoover School Of Fine Arts Facebook page and by accessing our website at hoover.whittiercity.net. The online calendar is updated regularly on our website, and monthly newsletters and event fliers will be posted there as well. In addition, we’d love to have you like us on Facebook as we regularly post school-wide information and/or pictures from school events. We also will continue to send home calendars, flyers, and important notifications in the white “communicator” envelope that goes home every Thursday. Your support in making sure you are keeping up with school-wide information is greatly appreciated.

Our top priority and commitment is to ensure that your children are safe during the school day and are receiving the best educational experience. Once the school year begins, I respectfully ask if you have a concern, to please visit our front office and request a Parent Concern Form and we will make sure it is addressed in a timely manner. We will respond either by phone, e-mail, or if you would like to meet in person, we will gladly make an appointment. You can also email and/or call. This will ensure that I’m available to support students and teachers while on campus. I appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.

As your principal and Hoover Alumna, I look forward to an incredible year ahead as we work together to provide an exemplary schooling experience for every Hoover Hawk. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and I will see you at our Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 8, at 10 a.m.

Warmly,

Ms. Kathy S. Anderson
